I've run into an intersting problem. I have a hotel that has two suites with two phones in each one. The main phones work fine. The secondary phones can dial 9 and make outbound calls. However, they cannot make internal calls. When they attempt to dial internally, they get a fast busy signal. Two phones in each suite are half tapped so they are using one extension. I'm not utilizing suite services (System Option 84 - Multiple Guest Suite Phones) in the system because there are only two suites in the hotel.

Basically, since both phones are half tapped and sharing 1 extension, both should have the same call features in theory.

Have tested and verified these symptoms yourself . What trouble shooting steps have you taken if you verified symptoms . It could be as simple as a bad analog set or a split pair at the halftap with another port .

It's not a bad analog set. Like I previously stated, you can get dial tone, dial 9 and make outbound calls on the troubled phones in each suite. Myself and the property are seperated by several thousand miles. As far as troubleshooting,I busied out both extensions in the system and returned them to service. Problem persisted. Next, I worked with the site engineer. I had him take a known working phone into each suite and swap it out with the bad phones. The problem occurred on the known working phones. Your suggestion about the split pair at the halftap is plausible.

I may have to dispatch a tech. I have no problem with that as it will be a billable service call if it is isolated to premise cabling. However, I wanted to touch base with Tek Tips readers to see if they had any ideas that could be isolated to software or programming.

You have ruled out the phones , can the phones be called by other phones on site to verify the extensions are the correct ones for the rooms . Did you check programming to insure they have the correct tenant ?

Sorry crich01, I'm going to have to call bad info on this one.

My bet is that the person you are relying on to do the testing is doing it wrong and not telling you exactly what they are doing.

What's most important is that you realise ... There is no spoon.

I would go into maintenance on the switch and talk with a person in the room on say a cell and ask them to lift the handset on each of the phones and see if they are connected to the same plid, if they are probably wiring issue

pandabear1, the phones in the suites are half tapped. Therefore, they are sharing the same PLID. I had her and someone else go to the room, pick up both handsets in the suite to see if they could talk to each other. They could. Tenant, COS, and COR are all correct.

All, I decided to send a technician to the site to troubleshoot because as kwbMitel stated, I think I'm getting bad information. I'll let you know what we find. Thanks
