Any recommendations for switching J179 and Equinox phones off of 5060 while in a live environment? Customer is on Powered By IPO 11.0.4.0.4 or whatever. All phones are remote and the process would be done remotely as well.

In test environment I always lose connection with the SIP phones after changing the SIP extension port under LAN1--VOIP--layer 4 protocol. I'm thinking the phones get the port number from the 46xxsettings file but that may be wrong. I could modify it and then reboot phones and then change the IP Office and hopefully they would match up--but haven't quite succeeded at that yet. Going through docs but haven't found much so let me know if I am going about this all wrong.

Thanks

What you should do is to use TLS, and not TCP/UDP.

I hear you. Even so, seems a little tricky to switch over remotely.

you need to edit the 46xxsettings with the desired protocol and port under the j179 settings section. Then reboot the phones to pickup the new settings file.

Note that you should never edit the 46xxsettings.txt. If you want anything custom, edit the 46xxspecials.txt.
