The company is considering moving from the POTS lines to a T1 for the cost savings. 12 lines for phone, 2 for fax machines.
The fax lines currently do not go into the MICS. Any words of warning for this switch?

Also should an ATA or an ASM be used for the fax machines, or should the fax lines stay normal lines not on the T1?

Software versions / Current hardware
MICS - 2.0 ; 1 - 2 port fiber card, 1 Trunk Module, 3 CI line cards

NAM - 2.2
It is just a fractional T1, not a PRI.
( it is from Verizon, I believe they call it a "Flexgrow" T1 )

To get the full benefit monetarily they are gonna want the Faxes on the T1. Although if you leave as POTS they could be backup to dial out. Cuz, now all their trunking is going to be off a channel bank/router.

ATAs cheaper than an ASM.

agree. side note on this for you is make sure that if there is any elevators or security systems that they have the direct line coverage that they require.

As to your second question about the faxes- if you've only got 2, I'd go with 2 ATA's. They're a lot cheaper than an ASM.
