Two weeks ago we switched our local phone service from one carrier to another. Now I have a handful of extensions that are having problems. This is the problem:

Ext. 1234 (Jane Doe) can receive incoming calls from local and long distance callers but when her mom calls (locally), she gets a fast busy signal. Her mom hangs up and calls another extension in our building and gets through fine.

Her mom is calling from a different Central Office. I've called the local phone company and they ran a test call from her Central Office to Jane Doe's direct extension. The phone company didn't have any problem reaching Jane Doe.

I've checked the protocols between my switch and the local Central Office, they are fine.

The local phone company won't do anything else to help.

What am I missing?

Did you do number portability. That is were you keep your old numbers just new Local/long distant service provider. If this is the case. Then either the old provider has not taken you out of there system database or the new provider has not completed all of the conversion. Your new provider consoltant should be able to help you. Good Luck!!

We have 2500 DID numbers and all of them were ported to the new carrier. Our old carrier has disconnected their circuits. I know that this employee's extension was ported to the new carrier because she is receiving phone calls from other people. She just can't receive phone calls from her mom.
I have a handful of employees that are having the same problem, they can receive calls from some people but others get a fast busy.
I can't pinpoint this to one central office. At first I thought it might be the translations between the CO switch and my switch but I've found that the callers are going through different central offices.
Is it possible that the old carrier hasn't completely released the DID? Could she receive calls from some people but not others if the DID wasn't completely ported?
Thanks for your help!

If she is recieving calls from some people but not all one of the carriers messed up. I switch a customer from Ameritech to McLeod. McLeod did all there progrming so we could recieve calls from Mcleod customers, but Aneritech did not delet us from there sysytem so Ameritech customers calling us got a fast busy.

This has happened with me two in two occasions. In both cases one of the carriers DB was not updating with the ported numbers.

Yep, welcome to the wonderfull world of software.... Please let me know if the information that was provided is helpfull.
