We are upgrading this friday to ver. 11. I want to know if their are any known issues and what to look and prepare for. We currently run ver.6. also what ver. of ASA should I ask our partner to provide? any insight will be helpful. Thanks in advance....
 
The upgrade should come with a version of ASA, probably 1.12. Are you staying with the traditional TN24xx processor or going to a Media Server based solution?

Did an upgrade in December and have had no issues to date with the upgrade coming from version 7.1. If anything, things are running better now and I am on ASA ver 1.12. The upgrade basically consists of your vendor replacing the processer card and you will most likely get a new type of flash card. Our old 4mb became incompatible with the upgrade and we received one 8meg card. Went pretty smooth and took about 2 hours to complete. Most useful new features so far have been IP connectivity to switch and telecommuting mode. Also, meet-me conferencing works very well. Good Luck.

We've been upgrading to R11 as well. One (that we know of) is having a problem with one-way audio on our 6408D+ phones.
This can be on internal desk-to-desk or external calls, and can be on handset or speaker. We noticed that there were TDM-BUS errors on multiple PNs at roughly the same time as the one-way audio call. We contacted Avaya, and they seemed to be aware of it already and said that they had a patch they're wanting to put on.
Have any of you experienced this or applied the patch? It concerns me that it's apparently a "known issue" but there's no QPPCN (and therefore no technical write-up to explain.) Thanks! The switch having the problem is an R011r.02.0.110.4
 
Is this a duplicated system? When you take that kind of a jump in software versions their is a lot of hardware that will need to be upgraded as well. My last upgrade was from v4 to v8. 2 extra memory boards were installed, the processors and optical disk drives. It took 3 different times to finally get the new software loaded. Bad boards were part of the problem. They missed another board that was to low a vintage and had to order 2 of them. Your system will not be very happy at first with new hardware installed that it doesn't reconize. Your vendor should have a cut sheet with the steps to do the upgrade. Ask them for a copy and look at the minimum vintages on your exsisting packs to make sure nothing has been left out. One other thing you may what to do is to look up the voice report @thevoicereport.com. They have done several articals on V11 software they may let you know about potential problems. If you find any mistakes, please consider that they are there for a purpose. And everyone needs a purpose.
