Hi,

i got the following problem with an switch;
Console port broken/truned off
IP to switch unknown
Subnet unknown

Someone got any smart idea how to figure out the ip nummber?

Are you using the switch right now? I mean, is it physically connected to a working network or just sitting on a shelf? What kind of switch is it? Most manufacturers have some type of reset/default procedure.

Thanks for the answear. Its a Compaq SW3322. It works fine when i connect it to the network, but its pretty frustrating when you not are abel to do the settings you want to have.
The reset procedure i know how to do, but to be abel to it, i need to be connected to the switch either by the console or telnet.

You could try a little program called NetworkView to 'scan' your network. It will pick up pretty much anything with an IP address. That should give you the IP address of the switch. From there you should be able to telnet to it. All of this is assuming you are on the same 'network' as the switch. Worth a try anyway.
