swinstall not working 1

My company has recently purchased a hp-ux machine for testing. I loaded it from cd's that came with it, 11i. I tried to install a software apckeage and recieved the error that there is no software depot at /var/spool/sw. I made the directory and tried to register it, swreg. I got the same error. I am sure this is no problem for someone who knows hp-ux but I can't figure it out. Any documentation I find on it assumes that you already have a dpoet or something. Thanks for any help.

Yeah, swinstall is not very user-friendly. If you are installing from the CD, change the /var/spool... thing to the directory where your CD is mounted, including the package you want to install.
