Hi everyone, hope one of the Flash Masters here can figure this one out
I use a PC, Flash MX, to make my swfs. I put a swf on my website and got a message from someone using Mac OSX saying they couldn't see the swf. I published the swf back to Flash 5, made sure to use both IE and Netscape <param name> and <embed> tags in my code. MY first instinct is that they don't have a Flash Player for Mac, or the player they do have is too old maybe. Wouldn't they get an automatic message though asking them to download a flash player? And does Macromedia automatically detect what type player they need?
If anyone reading this has a Mac, can you please check out this swf and see if you are having problems?
Are there any special precautions I should be taking to ensure a swf can be seen by people with PC's, Mac's, Windows, Linux, IE, Netscape, etc?
I have been surprised in the past by the number of people with gecko-based browsers like mozilla, epiphany, firebird, etc, who said they couldn't see swfs I posted online. It often turned out they either didn't have their flash player working or installed. I thought Flash penetration was well over 90%. What are your experiences as regards people being able to see your online swfs? Is the answer to people not seeing your swfs nearly always that they don't have a valid flash player?
Any insights or comments on this issue would be most appreciated, thank you!
Still learning !
