I hit the button on the swatch pallete and "load library" and navigate to program files/adobe/adobe CS2/plug-ins/swatch libraries and whatever library I click on I get a message saying: "Cannot load swatches from selected document. Either this is not InDesign document or the document is damaged." What am I doing wrong. It was so easy in Pagemaker to load a swatch library.

...swatches palette flyout menu > new color swatch...

...change to spot, select color, and it will load into indesign cs2...

Andrew

I admit it's not very clear. But it's for when you save your swatches for another application. An ASE file, ADOBE SWATCH EXCHANGE. You can save colour swatches from Illustrator and load the into your InDesign file, or from one InDesign file to another.

You can select another InDesign file and it will load all the swatches from that file etc.

First response is correct, New Swatch, select colour library and the colour reference in that library to create a new swatch.

It's not like Illustrator where you get a panel of the swatches, you need to look at each one individually.

Or you can select all the swatches in the new swatch panel and add all of them, if you wanted.

First answer is not what I was looking for.
Second answer makes sense but the problem is that when I go to where the swatch libraries are I get the message that I wrote out word for word in my first post. I know how to load swatch libraries. It's just that InDesign won't let me.

I wonder why?

Is there another library buried somewhere in a folder that I cannot find? Perhaps someone can give me the exact path.

...what is the name of this library you are trying to load?

...one that is already present in the spot color library list via new color swatch?

Andrew

You've navigated to libraries that are already installed - adobe CS2/plug-ins/swatch libraries - the INDD defaults.

The first 2 answers were correct

If you want to select from those you simply go to new swatch and select the library from the color mode drop down menu. Then select the swatch.

If you want to import from another swatch library, choose OTHER from the color mode drop down and navigate to that.

If you want to bring swatched in from another INDD doc, you can use swatch window/load swatches and navigate to another INDD doc. If your using swatch window/load swatches to try to load swatches from a library it will not work. It's only for bringing in swatches from other docs.

Using OSX 10.3.9 on a G4 & G5

I know how to load swatches from libraries. My problem (as I stated 2 times before) is that when I select the library that I want I get this message:

"Cannot load swatches from selected document. Either this is not InDesign document or the document is damaged.

I did a search on my computer for the folder you sugested. And I can't find it? Here is a screen shot of my search.
