Hello tech kinda people. I really enjoy this forum, so many smart people on here.
I have a Partner ACS running version 6.0 along with VMS running version 5.0
The carrier is a 5 slot holder and has the 509 processor center slot. It has an 012E on the right slot next to the 509 it has Partner MailVS in the furthermost right slot.
To the immediate left of the 509 is another 012E and last left slot is a 308EC module.

My question is I need to replace the 012E with a 308EC module to gain another set of inbound POTS lines. Do I have to delete the extensions on the 012E first, swap the 308 module into the carrier and then re-add the extensions and new lines after the fact? Also, the system is currently running in "Key" mode. Can I change the mode to Hybrid in order to create a main line pool (I need an auxiliary pool for the new POTS lines) without losing the current programming? Or does changing the system to hybrid mode pretty much negate all current programming due to line pool creation?
I am not going to go into the problems I am having with Remote PC connection. It has been beat to death and hopefully the US Robotics modems I purchased on ebay will solve my connection issues.

First thing, you do not have an ACS R6.0 if you have a 509 processor. 509 processors are only R7.0 or R8.0. From a phone with a display, dial Feature 59 and it will tell you what version of ACS you really have. Next, extensions in Partner are always there depending on what system card you have. When you change out the 012E for a 308EC, you will have all of your extension numbers above that 308EC shift 4 extension numbers. at this point, the 012E just to the right of your processor is extension 39, and when you swap that module out, your first extension on that 012E will be extension 35. you will have to reprogram your voice mail ports in #505, group 7. All the programming on buttons and other features about the phones will continue to be programmed for that particular extension, even though it will be in a different port at that point.

As far as your Hybrid mode question, I will leave that to someone that has worked with a Partner in hybrid mode. I do believe you will be reprogramming some, but it wont be that much. mainly you will be reprogramming ringing for each extension if you need it to not ring or delay ring. I don't know how the lines get answered by the voice mail using pools and I do not have my book handy. Hope this gets you in the right direction at least. Good luck.

If I'm not mistaken your current voice mail ports are 51,52 and up ( 2 port vs 4,6 exp. card in vm ) when you swap out the 012 you will need to put that in slot 2 ( reading from left to right ) and your vm ports will now be 47,48 up. aAs far as hybrid mode you will lose all line prodraming such as restrictions and line appearance and all co's will have to be in a pool group. ( no direct line appearances) You are probably better off defaulting and rebuild from scratch. One thing I'm not sure of is if and how you could run multiple AA's ( Not that you want to ) and also keep in mind you will reduce your extension count by 4.

phoneguyjr,

You are correct. The processor slot is occupied by a 103G. I recently installed a version 8 at another site and it has a 509 with the admin port. I did a quick look at the site in question and sure enough it is a 103G.

Oh well, such is life at times. I am more concerned at the moment in getting the admin software to connect. I deplore the thought of manually rebuilding this switch in a hybrid mode with 9 lines, 2 pool groups, 48 extensions, call restrictions, voice mail, etc. using a 34 or 18 phone.

PENCOM, thanks for the heads up on switching to hybrid mode. I was afraid the answer was going to be painful, defaulting and rebuild.
Can someone tell me if the "Copy" function works in Hybrid mode? In other words if I do rebuild the switch can I just copy all extensions that are going to be the same once I build (1) of each type I need?

Keep in mind you don't have to default your system but I think it would be easier, and copy will work but button programing does not copy. Also what phoneguyjr. was trying to tell you was at any LCD extension if you press [ FEATURE ] and dial 59 it will display your actual softwear version. Others and myself could give you more definitive answers if we know what the softwear version is. You could have your customer do this while speaking to them on the phone!

You can also use the Remote Admin Software, then you can keep configurations of both versions. You can make new ones, then upload and activate. Modifying the configs is easy! You can also build a library of client configurations. You can print a text copy of the configs too. Makes a good at-a-glance reference!
