Guys I have a quick question... I have a r9.0.3 500 cabinet that I need to take the SD card out and install a r9.1 SD card in. If I back up the cfg and then default the cabinet with the NEW SD card will the cabinet lock up or should it be fine? The new SD card doesn't have any upgrade license in it. Any help is appreciated, thanks.

You will need a license, cause the IP500 unit is a 9.0 version now.

Also, when you swap the sd card, you will also need to swap the licenses and send the old 9.0 sd card back to Avaya.

Why not follow a standard upgrade procedure?

Sorry, you cannot upgrade a control unit by changing the SD card. Once a phone is connected to a control unit and goes off hook for the first time, that control unit becomes the Release of the configuration used, and an upgrade license is required to change it. This is why it is recommended to upgrade new control units to the latest release before attaching phones. It is also one of the ways that Avaya protects their licensing interests. You can either get an upgrade license or a new control unit. I have found my self in this predicament in the past. In my case, I used a new control unit and kept the existing one until I had a unit of the same or earlier release that needed replace. However, I recommend purchasing a license.

Thanks to technology, we can instantly communicate across the world, but it still doesn't help us know what to say.

I know its a little funky. I'm working with customer provided stuff so I'm trying to make it work. I thought that it would lock up, I just wanted to be sure. Thanks for the help.
