I have a system with a hot swapabale HBA. One of the HBA has failed, and I know its hot swapabale by using the lsslot command.

All I need to do is, rmdev -dl <hba> , physically replace it and run cfgmgr, correct? And then let my SAN people know to use the WWN?

TIA!

Also you need to undefine all devices which have the HBA as a parent.

If you are using a multipath software, find out if you can discontinue the use of a specific HBA and its dependencies. in SDD from V 1.6 (I think) you can remove adapters and/or paths, which was specially added to accommodate PCI hotswap operations. For other multipathing softwares - look in your manual.

Setting paths and/or adapters offline is not enough.
