Station 0001
port A
type 6416+

Station 9999
port z
type FAX

The desk where Station 0001 resides is vacant, and I'd like to move the fax machine 9999 there. Lil' Useless Instruction boox says to X out port addresses etc., but then notes that this method only works for phones of the same type (2 analogs or 2 digis...).

What's the procedure if they're different?

So far, errors indicate inconsistent port selections...

TIA for any and all suggestions... apologies if this is a basic skill, still learning as I go.

Fax requires analog port.

if you are moving it to a location that is wired for a digital port you must run a new cross connect to that location for the analog port.

1. X port the address of both stations.
2. Change your cross-connects for those station drops to the appropriate type (analog/digital).
3. TTI the stations so they pick up the new port address, or manually enter the correct port address for the station.

Your error is occuring because you're trying to assign an analog station, but the physical connection is to a digital port.

yup, if I remember my g3i moves adds changes days. have to dich the digital port for an analog port. swap the punchdown where the port cards reside and the physical labor is done.
