I have a cx300 and a cx700. I want to swap a DAE full of 73GB drives in the CX300 with a DAE full of 36GB drives in the CX700. There is no data on either DAE, but both DAE's are in the middle of the bus loops so I cannot just remove the DAE's without losing data on the DAE's further in the loop. My question is: can I just pull the drives out of the DAE's and swap them, and can I do this hot? They are all FC drives, and both DAE's are the older 2gb units so the drives are compatible with both DAE's. Thanks....

This should not present a problem.

Insure that none of the disks are in raid configurations.
Using Navisphere Right click on the CX system and select Disk Summary.
All disks in the target DAEs should show unbound.

Allow at least 30 sec for spindown after unlatching drives before transporting between systems.

You may see an amber indicator on the DAE cage with all drives removed.
