I got Grandstream HT812/814 hoping to set it up to use as an intercom or public announcement with my phone system. The ATA is registered and I'm trying to create one way audio so that you can just call it and have a speech path through the AMP that has TEL input. Is there any other setting in PCPro or on the ATA itself I need to do? Right now it just goes off-hook and you can not call it i.e have speech path.

If you get a plain analog phone and plug it into the HT812, can you call it? And have 2 way audio?

Yes, I can. The analog phone works totally fine. I discovered that in my case since I have IP PBX I will need an additional module to make that happen. Bogen TAMB2 in this case. But if you have any other suggestions to make it work without it, I'm willing to check them.

I use these Grandstreams a lot on my SV9500 and they work well. Some intercomms, some faxes, etc. In your case for the PA system, I guess it boils down to features and settings on the Bogen (since the analog phone works just fine). I'm not familiar with what hardware you already have for the PA, but it needs some sort of interface that acts as an analog phone. The TAMB2 seems like it will wotk as it has a station/trunk interface. But I don't know if you already have something in place that provides the same interface and just needs to be configured properly.

The way I had it set up is that, HT812 was configured to communicate with the phone server. The PBX was programmed to have a number for the HT812 in AISTL and then AKYD primary line was assigned. Then from HT812 I ran RJ 11. One end was cut other one was plugged in to the HT812 FXS port 1. The cut end was plugged in to Bogen TEL input (as I had the idea that Bogen already had that interface to answer call based on the ring voltage). And nothing else was in between. So when all that was connected the Bogen was only giving me off-hook tone and nothing else.
I'm not sure how you have it set up or what interface you have as a station/trunk. It's just adding more stuff to the line when on top of Amp and HT812 now I will need additional module. I was trying to see if there was less-equipment and economy way to do this by utilizing the phone system.

What model Bogen is it?

I am not familiar with the Grand stream. Can you set it up as a page port? Otherwise I would use a Valcom V-801. It will give you the output you need. A pure audio signal.

The other option would be to use a Viking FXI-1a page adapter hanging off the Grand stream.

Had a quick look at the Bogen C60 manual and it is looking for a 600 Ohm connection with no DC on it so my best guess is an FXS ATA is no good, it would need to be an FXO ATA. FXS provide 24 - 48 volts to the phone to provide the speech path whereas an FXO port does not put out a voltage.

Disclaimer! I may well be totally wrong.

Thank you guys for your replies. Yeah, I looked at Valcom and Viking page adapters and seem to be what I need to have. Thanks again.
