SV9100 - PMS is "talking" but system is not updating

I am working on a hotel system with a SV9100. We have the USB to (dual) com port adaptor to connect to the customers PMS system.
They are saying that the do see the ack/conformation on check in and check out.
However I am not seeing any changes to the PBX. The name never gets updated or the restriction levels.
Also, to get the NEC to reset the rooms voicemail do we need to setup a connection between the NEC and the PBX or should the check out command reset the mail box?

Is there any good manual for the connection to a customers PMS? I see a hotel manual but it does not talk about the connections at all
