im transferring a call to an external number but the call is not dropping its tying up 2 lines instead of connecting call and dropping what am i doing wrong..

please help asap thank you in advance.

What type of Lines do you have?

If an incoming call to the PBX is transferred to an external number, it will always tie up 2 lines until the call is completed.

Sounds like you're trying to connect two PSTN lines together and as there isn't a cleardown signal (normally) they never release when the call terminates! It may be possible to make this work if your carrier can supply a clear down signal such as reversal on idle but if not you need trunks that do cleardown like ISDN!

my trunks are pri isdn but still wont release thought it may be in my programming of the sv8300 any ideas?

sorry did forget to mention they are pri isdn lines!!!!

So can we clarify the problem, are the two trunks staying locked together and if so how are you checking this and how are you clearing them down when they do lock up?
