Initially the calls using VOIP sound crisp and clear, but the longer the user is on the phone, the worse the calls get. There are delays and fragmentation of the voice that eventually is not practical to continue the call.

Belevedere,

Thank you for the response. We are using QOS with 256Kbps dedicated to VOIP. We are sharing out data on the same line as VOIP.

You trouble description sounds like a data packet has been introduced part way into the voice communication. You may need to put a wireshark on it to get more info.

Okay, I guess that makes sense, but what am I looking for in Wireshark?

This could also be a jitter issue! Calls would degrade as the buffer fills up

Verification of QOS, packet interruptions. DiffServ/IP presidence settings.

Okay,it turns out QOS is not turned on or the predetermined rule for SIP VOIP is not being applied with VOIP calls.

I believe there is the need for a custom rule to identify this traffic, so what ports should I apply QOS on for VOIP?
