Hello all,

I am looking at a PANIC ALARM system for our company and looking at setting our NEC telephone system up to do this.

I have a few ideas that I want to look at to see how it works but am not too sure on whether it is feasible and whether what I want to do is actually capable of being carried out by the system.

So I have come here looking for some support whilst reading through the programming guide for the software :)

[ul]
[li]The possibility to have a TEXT MSG appear on the screen saying **ALARM RAISED BY - EXT NUMBER** from pressing a selected shortcut programmable button on the handset[/li]
[li]The possibility of setting ALL phones in the system to ring at the same time raising the alarm[/li]
[li]Having a different ring pattern with a flashing light at the same time to make it noticeable that it is a panic alarm[/li]
[/ul]

I will continue to Google and check things out in the book but if anyone has seen or setup or even used something remotely similar to this then please any advice/suggestions you have I would be most greatful for.

Thanks
Dave

If at 1st you don't succeed then I guess your i the right place to ask why! :p

I'm not sure what your application is, but you can set up a hot line to a SLT port with a loud bell on it. Or, a virtual extension on a button on every phone set to ring down to a SLT port with a loud bell.

Ok

So I've never tried any of this but some ideas based on the 8300....

You can nominate a number in LCR to be a 911 type number (it doesn't have to be 911) which can then report which extension made the call. You could set up a speed dial key on all phones that dials the number that you nominated in LCR as a 911 number. You can then connect an analogue extension to a COT port and make another number appear on all the Dterms (alternately you can use group call by pilot number to ring multiple extensions including analogues). You may have already guessed that the 911 type number selects that COT port and then dials the number on all the Dterms!

You could even make the number on the Dterms a physical number which you could then connect to a loud sounding bell/sounder and/or a flashing light

I think that would give you everything you asked for

Thanks for the help both, I now have some ideas to play with on a dummy system I have in the office. At least I can try them out and whichever is the better result, sounders/lights or just telephones ringing then that what I shall go with.

Thanks again :)

Dave
