I currently have two sites running CM v6. 4xG450's at both sites and an ESS. When it was installed, the Survivable GK Node Name has been setup as the Virtual IP address of the ESS servers.

Am I wrong in thinking that this isn't correct and the Node should be a Gateway and not the server???

Survivable GK Node Name Names the gatekeeper to register with when the
gateway unregisters (loses call control) with the main server. The media gateway
delivers the gatekeeper list to IP endpoints, allowing them to register and subsequently
originate/receive calls from other endpoints in this survivable calling zone. This field
must be set equal to the IP Node Name of the media gateway that will support this
station in survivable mode.

It's currently setup as the ESS Server's Virtual IP address. So am I right in thinking that, should ESS kick in, the phones will fail to register?

Do you have separate ip-network-regions for both your sites..?

I assume you have IP phones?

Yeah two different network-regions and we have 9630 handsets.

The only time I have ever used that field is when I have configured gateways for SLS.
If those G450's are configured correctly, they should register to the ESS along with the phones without putting anything in the Survivable GK Node Name.
