i have always been ok with solaris 8 when using the internet via dhcp, but after loading solaris 10 yesterday, my browser can't resolve dns addresses. i've done the same things as before:

1. set etc\defaultrouter to my router's ip address: 192.168.1.1

2. set etc\resolve.conf to the comcast nameserver's ip addresses

3. set nsswitch.conf to include:
hosts files dns

...but still does not work. this combination served me well before, so i'm confused. am i missing anything for solaris 10?

thanks!

does nameresolution work properly with nslookup?

thanks franz for the reply. well, late last night, i decided to re-install solaris 10. for some reason, this time it worked, althoguh i did not do anything different from the last install. so i'm not sure what i did, or why it's working now - i'm just glad i can surf again!

ok, enjoy! ;-)
