Hello all!

I am wanting to suppress certain row items from my crosstab report dependent on a field from another table that is linked to this table. I am trying to create a state count by geo using a job table view and a table of all the possible states and provinces. If the list type in the job table view is a US list then the canadian provinces need to be suppressed. I need to show the total counts, even null values for all the valid states for each list type. I have created a formula to dictate which states should be included based on the list type, and it seems to be working. However, it is grouping the states with a zero count together in one row with no row name(ie. AK). All the states with a counts are listed with a row name, but not the states without a count. They are grouped into one row. Has anyone else experienced this problem, or know how to address this issue?

Rather than suppress items, add a group for country. This will separate the states/provinences according to country when the cross-tab is placed in that group footer or the report footer.
To display the zero counts in each state, add a formula to handle the null values. Example:

if isnull(project) then 0 else 1

Place this formula in the summarized field as a sum.
Hope this helps.

Thank you so much. This helped alot. I guess I was trying to make this harder than it was.

I didn't have to use a formula to calculate the zero counts because of my outer join, but thanks for the input. I may have to use it somewhere else, some other time.

I did have to create a second section to my group footer and format each section with a suppression formula. This allowed me to show only the states when specific list types were selected in one footer section and the provinces when other list types were selected in the other footer section without having to view a blank grouping.

Once again, thank you!!
