I've got a report with a group header section that includes only a sub-report.

The sub-report only contains one field, that can be sometimes empty.

At the moment, in my global report, I always have some space taken by the sub-report insertion.

I would like to really suppress the sub-report when its field inside is empty.

I have tried the "Suppress blank section" in the corresponding Group Header, but it doesn't work.

Any idea, gurus ? Thanks.

Depends on your Crystal version, a basic piece of information that should always be included with any post about any software product.

In CR XI you can suppress blank subreport, previous versions this was a known issue and sometiems people resolved by prefiring the subreport in another section and then passing a shared variable to the display section as the trigger for suppression.

ok Thanks
(yep, I'm using CR 9.2 at the moment)

First you need to suppress all sections of the subreport if the subreport returns no records, create a suppression formula to check if no records are returned i.e.

IsNull({MyTable,Field})

Then in the main report right click on the subreport and select format subreport -> subreport tab -> check Suppress blank subreport.

Then in section expert check Suppress Blank section.

If the subreport contains no data and the group header section contains no other fields then this will suppress the section.
