To make a case for ASP.Net to my boss, I need to know how long Microsoft is planning on supporting classic ASP. Does anyone have an idea? I have searched the web, but been unsuccessful.

The reason I am asking this in the ASP.Net forum is because someone who is contemplating, or has already moved to .Net, may have had to answer the same question already.

Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

We all agree your theory is crazy, but is it crazy enough?

The newest versions of IIS still support ASP. I doubt that will go away any time soon. The real power for ASP.net is that you can develop more robust code in less time.

Hopefully someone can give you a better answer than this. You also could ask Microsoft.

True. ASP Classic isn't going anywhere, and true again, it's the increased productivity, speed, and power of the .NET Framework that's the real pull here. It's difficult sometimes to make that case, though.

You can check this out:

and this page has some companies that are currently using ASP.NET:

Also, it would be good for you to make up some cases to present, as well. Inheritence, databound controls, and validators are three of the biggest time savers at my company.

Hope this helps.
