After removing the cmos battery, my thinkpad asks for a supervisory or power up password before booting. I opened it up, and there are no jumpers to reset the password, neither is there a security chip. I already tried several backdoor passwords for its phoenix bios. Nothing works. Would appreciate fresh ideas.

Known issue...with a fix from IBM.

The patch is a bios update....
