SunOS 5.8 Generic_108528-07 sun4u sparc SUNW,Ultra-60

I would like yo know the I/O buffer size for a Sun box. Is it 64KB, and how can I know for sure?

Thanks in advance

think twice, hit enter once

The netstat command will show the size of your receive window for networking Rwind

# ndd -set /dev/tcp tcp_xmit_hiwat 65535
# ndd -set /dev/tcp tcp_recv_hiwat 65535
# ndd -set /dev/tcp tcp_cwnd_max 65534

are the commands (ndd only changes this til reboot)

I am looking for the disk file I/O buffer size as a basis for tuning an ORACLE database. The ORACLE docs use 64KB as an example and I would like to confirm that for this box.

My Swind and Rwind are 32768 from netstat. Does that mirror the disk file I/O buffer size?
