Hi, Ultra 5 Sun box

What SCSI adapters are supported.... have gone down the Adaptec route only to find that the card only has support for INTEL drivers... not very happy! so I need a SCSI card to connect to a single external DLT unit (Quantum 4000)

Suggestions pleeze - SPARC supported ;)

Thanks

You should be able to find this information on Sun's web site. They have a huge amount of system documentation on line there.

Hope this helps.

One is differnetial the other single ended? What does this mean?

Thanks

Antares Microsystems. PCI Ultra-SCSI host adapter kit, Wide differential
PCI-SCSI-UWS Mfct: Antares Microsystems. PCI Ultra-SCSI host adapter kit, Wide single-ended

The SCSI interface has been around for a VERY long time. It has evolved as technology has moved forward. There are actually many different types of SCSIs. There's SCSI, Fast SCSI, Fast Wide SCSI, Ultra SCSI, Wide Ultra SCSI, Ultra2 SCSI, Ultra3 SCSI, and a couple others. These all have different bus widths and speeds and physical technology to connect them. Some are compatable with others, and some are not.

Here are some web pages that have some basic info. They're nothing special, I just Googled for them.

Hope this helps.
