IS the SUN L1400 just a stk L700E (expandable to 1400)

Also....Does the L1400 use a different MPC card?

Hi Andy,
L1400 is just two L700E connected with a pass-thru port.
I think the MPC are the same as L700E...but some additional logic installed to control the PTP.

Andy,

As above.

The only extra parts are the MPB in the PTP frame, and the PTP mechanism itself. The MPC needs to be at 308390511 or higher, as it powers the PTP). The MPB runs its own firmware, separate from the MPC firmware.

Small update.

The L1400 is not just two L700e's bolted together, it's a different sales model, an enhanced version of the L700e. An L1400 only has the one frame if you need < 700 slots, but will still be called an L1400. The differences are:

1. MPCL replaces the MPC
2. L series web admin is standard
3. Library FC interface is standard
4. 700 slots installed, capacity controlled by s/w key
5. Standard 200 slots, inceased in 100 slot increments
6. Capacity key held in SN3300 router in 19" bay area
7. Library logical partitioning supported

Hope that helped.

I'll have to do some R&D...

Thanks timwah, all part of the service...

Hello STKman I was wondering are thier any differences in l700 and l1400 op panel screens.

I've not had the opertunity to work on an L1400, but I would imagine the ops panel menu's are the same.
