Help!
I can't get my get my Sun 8705DX tape drive to work. I inherited a Sun Ultra 10 machine complete with an external 8705DX tape drive and Yamaha 4x4x16 CDROM burner (both SCSI). I have Solaris 5.8 installed and working fine. My problem is I can't figure out how to communicate with the external tape drive. I installed several different 8mm tapes (green light is on) without success. I have the SCSI id set as '4' which doesn't interfere with anything. I try using the commands:
mt -f /dev/rmt/0 status
and
mt -f /dev/rst/0 status
for options 0-7 without any drives being detected. What am I missing here? Is there a missing driver perhaps?
