Summarizing Group Summaries 1

My report summarizes the sales of clothing by each PLU or Item#. It is grouped by PLU and Group sorted by Maximum date to show me when the last time an Item was sold. Within the database each PLU belongs to only one department. My report shows the Department name on each grouping. So my report essentially looks like this at the group level:

PLU Description Department

TS-452 t-shirt, brown shirts
LS-123 long sleeve, red shirts
CAP-541 red cap hats
SG-988 sunglasses access
... and so on...
What I want is to have a count of how many times each department was displayed at the Group level and to have this at the end of the report. Being new at this, my Running Totals show either the Grand Total number of groups or worse, the total number of sold items within a group.

Insert a crosstab in the report footer that uses department as the row and a distinct count of PLU as the summary field.
