Hi Guys

Any ideas on how i can do this

the criteria part of the forumla contains Vanilla and not just vanilla on its own

we could have

Vanilla
IT Vanilla
S & S Vanilla

and i need to return the result of all these

SUMIF(A:A,"vanilla",B:B)

What about:

=SUMIF(A:A,"*vanilla*",B:B)

Cheers, Glenn.

Did you hear about the literalist show-jumper? He broke his nose jumping against the clock.

SUMIF(A:A,"*"&"vanilla"&"*",B:B)

Only difference with what I gave you is that you could substitute "vanilla" for a cell reference containing the word to look for if you wanted to.
