I've been absent from this forum for a while due to the advent of flash 5 and that I normally do web stuff, and flash 5 was capable of most of the things Director 8 could do (to a certain extent). The question is this. Is there anything aside from the 3d engine in 8.5 that makes it worthwhile?

Sorry for my late reply.

I'm quite a fan of CA myself, and I use them a lot for reviews of everything I need from software to hardware. My only major concern is the usability factor of 81/2 over 8. Do I need to shell out for the upgrade? The multiuser server sounds great, but I don't really use Shockwave for the web anymore, as I find it unreliable for most people (even for me--It always wants me to download the new version for some reason!!!!!) Anyhow, thanks so much, and of course it was helpful. I'm working on a new cd-rom for someone and think I'll do it in Director.
