I have a legal size paper order form which requires a mobile worker to open several books and walk to various areas in a building to complete the form. The completed form currently is handwritten with fields like name, address, city, state, zip, etc. There are approximately 70 fields and a 3 inch X 3 inch drawing to complete.
It would be nice to be able to occasionally scan information on the go like the old HP capshare but that isn't crucial.
The mobile worker may have 5 forms to complete per day and some forms have a 3 hour turnaround time. The workers are working in buildings where cell phone connections aren't always clear. They have no access to printers/fax/ computers unless they lug them around.
I have thought of various solutions. PDA's have small screens and typing is cumbersome. Tablets are very pricey. Plus there is the connectivity problem in these buildings. However, the workers can usually walk outside and pick up a cell phone signal.
Does anyone have any ideas of a quick way to receive these orders, complete them "on the go" and get them back to our main office without spending a fortune on hardware and connectivity?
