Hello -

I need to upgrade a video card for someone in the Geographic Info. Systems department in my company - he uses fairly heavy duty mapping software and needs a better redraw rate. The card must be compatible with WindowsNT, and I'd like to take advantage of the AGP slot on his board.

Any suggestions? I need to balance cost & quality, so pricing is an issue.

Thanks

Hi,

I have just fitted a 32meg ATI Radeon to a machine i built up for a friend. i was impressed with its functions and it has a comprehensive driver pack.
It also has duel display support as standard & supports dvd playback.
but best of all was its price £60 + vat @ simply computers

This is the third ATI card i have installed and they have all impressed me. Another point worth mentioning is there after sales service. I purchased a 128bit Rage fury card recently from a wholesaler in OEM status. The card was delivered without its installation disk. so i ran ATI's video card ID progrem that i got from thier identify the cards bios and sent them an e-mail requesting an installation cd. 5 days later in the post was my driver disc.

well done ATI, i will be buying from you again

hope this helps with you desision

I am waiting for the new Hercules 4500 64MB Kyro II board to be released - initial release date is 21st May.

Apparently performance wise it is between Geforce 2MX and the GTS, but the cost is not much more than the MX (in the UK around £110).

Hope this helps
