Customer has Dell computer running Win98SE. Cursor movement only, NO CLICK, over Favorites ANYWHERE, causes Front Page installer to activate. Cancel and is OK until next encounter. No problems with Front Page that I can see. I've always told people computers are magic and now I'm a believer.

Flushed the temp directories?
When was FP installed?
AV with current definitions installed?
How long has it been going on?
If only a few reboots, tried restoring with scanreg?

No one can tell me when the problem started but it's been many months. Front Page was in the Dell software bundle. The computer has no other problems whatsoever. McAfee AV is up to the minute, in the normal course of events has been rebooted many times, temps flushed, etc. It's as though it's a part of the OS. Simple cursor movement over Favorites. Nothing in Favorites pointing to Front Page but so what. No click required. Have looked in registry but we all know that's a lot of territory to cover looking for a ghost. I don't expect long range answers but just looking for a new approach.

Controls have obviously taken a hike!

What should happen, of course, when you hover over Favorites is a mouseover command...bringing up the tooltip.

You might benefit from a repair of IE...it's in Start/Run/SystemTools/SystemInformation...

Tried reinstating defaults in IE?

Original IE5 has been updated to IE6 but problem hasn't skipped a beat plus your thoughts have given me food for thought. Thanks, I'll get back to you.
