Hallo Succession experts,[bigglasses]

I have a problem with the softwareinstallation on a Signalling Server for a Succession 1000s.
It is a brand new PC from Nortel with the original Software CD,i think rls 4.0.
If i follow the instructions
1. insert the disc
2. power up the server
3. I should get a boot menu, but nothing happens

after a few minutes i get a message unable to write file xy to drive u:/ bla,bla.....
a few minutes later i get a login prompt:

But what is the login and the pw. and has someone an idea how to solve the boot problem?
Or do i have to send the server back to nortel ?

Greetings and Thanks for any help.[bigears]

The install CD from Nortel might be bootable. If not it's possible to create a new CD from an image CD avaliable from Nortel web site.
The default login and pwd are : login admin - pass cseadmin
The soft of CS, SS and MC MUST be same release : 4.00T for CS, 4.00.55 for SS and MC. Or 4.50W for CS, 4.50.25 for SS and MC

Hallo dlesap,

Thank you for your quick answer.
Now i can log on to the system and i can see that the correct SW Version 4.00.55 is already installed.[rednose]
But there is no IP config. How can i get back to the setup menu in this situation?
Thanks

Hi mave74,

you should boot from your CD.

At a certain point the system asks you to boot from
[c] CD Rom Drive
[h] Hard Drive

There you have to press C in order to get into the correct install menue to set the IP addresses and so far and so on.

You may have missed that point.

Hello
SL1user is right. If your SS is already installed, entering in the setup menu must be done by pressing C when system asking for (about 2 minutes after startup). It allows you only 5 sec to do it!!
Anyway, your CD must be present in CD rom reader, and must be bootable.

Hallo, everything is fine now.

We tested yesterday both com ports, only at the frontside we got a login prompt.[noevil]
But as we found today, you can see the boot messages only on the backside port.

Thanks for your help !

This is a very stupid problem I spend a 5 hours before I found that there is a difference between frontside and backside port. I burned a 5 CD-s because I thought first that CD-s I created are not bootable.

Hardware installation

3 Connect a maintenance terminal to the Signaling Server.
a. Connect a DTE–DTE null modem serial cable (supplied with the Signaling Server) from the Serial Port on the back of the Signaling Server to a maintenance terminal.
The connection looks like that shown in Figure 13 on page 46.
