Hi,

I have inherited a database to work on which has a large number of queries many with dependent queries.

A requirement just in is to run a set of reports based on a subset of the main table a little bit like grouping. I don't really want to go through and change each query and a far more elegant solution would be to subset the table, run the reports, change the subset, run the reports... yada yada.

Hopefully the example below explains it better.
Table - Maindata
Field - Class

Class has the following values: 1,2,3,4

So I want to report on all the 1 class, then all the 2, etc

A high level filter would work if there were such a thing.

Does anyone have any ideas please, while I still have hair.

Many thanks
Chris

This answer assumes that Maindata is what the queries are linked to.
One way would be to copy Maindata to another table then build a macro to delete records in Maindata then populate the table with the desired class.
The problem with this is Maindata will need to be repopulated after you are done from the copy, and no one is accessing the database while you are doing your work.

Good Luck,
djj

What about building the report on a query instead of the table ?

Hope This Helps, PH.

Hi,

Thanks for the input. Copying seems as tho it may work. Good guess about the maindata being the primary data source.

There are many reports already built alas, otherwise the query option would be the favourite.

Once again, thank you.
