Hello all,

I have a subscriber whose messages are hanging around as deleted - never being removed from the message store. Running SP5/003. anybody seen this?

Is it just one user? If it is one out of many you may want to reload the FEDB.

sounds like this is something i should know how to do...

...but don't.

is there an easy tutorial on how to do this? i was going to remove the mailbox and re-input it, but reloading the fedb sounds promising - and less drastic.

It is not less drastic and one thing you do not want to do is remove a MB and then add it right back in. You need to wait 5 min's to let the FEDB get refreshed or it will cause problems with that MB. See below. The system will be offline when you do this untill it is done. It can take a long time if you have a lot of users.

The Front End Database (FEDB) contains a subset of the user attributes and is stored locally on each voice server.

The following steps outline the process to re-synch the FEDB:

1) 1) Stop the voice service
2) 2) Backup the copy of FEDB. You can find it in
• • \\Unified Messenger\Vserver\fedb.mdb on UM4.x /UM5.0 systems
• • \\Avaya Modular Messaging\Vserver\fedb.mdb on MM1.0+ systems
3) 3) Open the registry by clicking on Start->Run and typing regedt32
CAUTION: Ensure that you are working on the registry of the server that you wish to re-synch. The title bar of the Registry window will indicate if it’s the local server or a remote server.

Versions MM1.0 + with the MSS Messaging Backend:
• • Navigate to the key HKLM\Software\Octel\Geneva\Vups_UserProfileServiceMgr
• • Edit the Value NodeSeqTable
• • In the Data Value, enter 0,0;
• • Edit the Value CosSeqNo
• • In the Data Value, enter 0

4) 4) Close the registry.
5) 5) Re-start the voice service.
6) 6) Event 1030 in the Event Viewer will indicate that full FEDB synchronization has started.
7) 7) After the re-synch has been completed a 1027 event will be generated showing how many entries were created/updated

Check on the user's subscriber options. The box labeled "delete messages on exit" may have become unchecked. Avaya has seen this before but has no idea how it happens. We have had several mailboxes that this happened on and the only fix that Avaya can give is to go in and select the box again. As we have over 6000 mailboxes on this system, we can't check them all, so we have to wait for them to report the problem first.
