Is there any way to add a subreport that itself has a subreport to another report? When I add the subreport, only the main report data shows up.

If not, can I add another subreport to the main report and link it to a field in a subreport that's already there?

This probably sounds goofy, but if you can understand me I'd appreciate the help!

You cannot have a subreport within a subreport. Crystal
doesn't support this.

What you might be able to do if your database is SQL is to create a stored procedure or a view that combines the data
so you wouldn't need a subreport.

As MColeman stated, you cannot nest subreports within subreports, but you can add as many subreports as required to a main report.

How one might advise you on architecture would be based on technical information, such as your Crystal version, database version, connectivity, data, you know, the type of things that any developer would explore prior to designing a process.

Consider sharing technical information when requesting it.

As others have said, you cannot embed a subreport within a subreport. However, you can pass data back from a subreport to the main report using Shared Variables.

Therefore, if you need to print a second subreport based on information that is retrieved/calculated in the first subreport, just define a Shared Variable in the main-level and first subreport, and then assign that Shared Variable to a formula field at the main level.

From there, you can use the formula field as a parameter to the second subreport.

In order to ensure that the shared variable is assigned to the formula before you print the second subreport, you may need to set up a dummy "section" in which you will assign the Shared Variable to the formula field; followed by another "section" that contains the second subreport.
