I'm using Access 2003. I have a report that is run with a wherecondition. The SQL in the wherecondition is rather complex. I just added a subreport that uses the same record source query. How can I get the subreport to also use the wherecondition SQL for selection? Several people can be running this report at the same time, so I can't modify the record source query. Thanks for your help.

Thanks for your quick reply. Everyone shares the same front end mdb file. They connect to a common server via remote desktop.

I would still recommend having separate front-end files for each user. If you can't do that, you may need to move the criteria to the query design rather than the where condition of DoCmd.OpenReport.

I'm not sure why you need a subreport with the same record source but apparently you understand you requirements much better than I do.

I was able to get it to work by modifying the front end query as you suggested. Thanks

Regarding having a separate front-end file for each user, could you explain some of the advantages of doing that? It seems like it would be a lot of extra work. If a changed is made to the front end file, then each user would have to be sent a copy of the new file, and it would have to be re-linked for each user.

I modify the SQL of saved queries in most of my apps so I must use separate front-ends. There are lots of web resources that suggest better performance, less chance of corruption, etc supporting separate front and back ends with each user having their own local copy.

There are also many suggested methods for pushing out new front-ends. Tony Toews has a free front-end updater that should be easy to find.
