I am working on a report that will comprised of two separate data elements. What the user would like to see is division totals on the left and individual totals (for all divisions) on the right. The as-of date for both groups of data is the same. I have figured out how to do sub-reports but this requires that a data group be selected for the main report and entering the as-of date. Is there any way to enter the as-of date only once?

By using the sub-report links option you can pass the as-of-date to the sub-report so that it only has to be entered once, in the main report. Right-click on the sub-report and select "change sub-report links". Then select the as-of-date field and indicate which field in the subreport it should link to.

The problem is the As-of-date is a parameter for both the main report and the subreport. Should I modify the stored procedure for the sub-report so that it has no parameters and only use the parameter, made into a report field, of the main report as the main-sub report link?

My only question is this: Won't that effect processing time since the procedure for the subreport will have no selections until the point that it is displayed?

It is better not to create a parameter or selection formula in the sub-report. The sub-report link will create the parameter and selection formula for you. One simple sub-report should not slow down processing time that much. If you have 3 or 4 sub-reports the processing time will increase a bit depending on the complexity of the reports.
