Subreport opens in design view in Access 2000

I recently upgraded from 97 to 2000. I have several reports with subreports (to look up revision information)in the page footer. I also have a label control which sits on top of subreport and shows page number for the main report. When I open the main report in design view, the subreport is also shown in design view. In 97 it showed subreports as a control that you had to double-click to edit. Now I can't select my label to change the properties. I need either a way to select the label control, or a way to accurately show page number for main report within a subreport.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

not really understand what u mean, but in Access2000 the report and the subreport are saved apart from each other, so u can open the subreport and design him, apart from the report.
U also can open the report in design view and look to the design view from the subreport,

if i'm in the wrong way, so specify ur question and I will give another try,

My problem is that I can't select the controls that are in the same report section (page footer) as the subreport, because the subreport is in design view rather than showing as a control like it did in Access 97.
