Hello,

I have a Cisco Catalyst 4000 and I seem to be having an issue with it. Certain user's that are atached to this switch sometimes get disconnected the Ip information stays but the subnet mask changes every now and then from 255.255.0.0 to 255.0.0.0. I am able to ping other machines in the same subnet and can ping the PC with success but thothing outside the subnet until I do a release and renew. After I do that I am able to ping other subnets. I have other Cisco switches in the building and they are having no issues.

If anyone out there has any suggestions please reply.

There is a bug in microsofts nt 4 workstation that gives the wrong subnet address from dhcp. I have seen this on a dial up to dhcp server where nt 4 is wrong but windows 95 98 2000 have all got the right address.....Dunno if this helps...More info is available on technet somewhere!
