Hi all. I'm trying to make a form in Flash to capture data for my wedding website (the RSVP section of the site). Specifically, I want users to submit their data on a form and capture that data in a simple text file or an html file in tables (under headings like "name", "entree").

Does anyone know of a useful tutorial for this in Flash MX 2004 Professional?

A friend of mine says I would need to use PHP to connect to the form and a backend like MySQL to capture the data. Any thoughts?

Thanks, Benny. This is a basic version of what I want to do. I want to do something a little more advanced, like have a CSV/text file open, write the submission information to it, then close the file. The file wouldn't be overwritten each time, but have a continuous list I could import into Excel as CSV file.

for sure you need a server side script...either php or asp...no real need for mysql...a simple text file would do

i have lots of examples for mx but none for 2004

Thanks Bill. I'd appreciate examples from Flash MX, too. I'll be using the components in MX 2004 Pro, but I think they're in MX, too. Just to see how it works would be nice. And the text file would be nice, I just have to find the PHP code to make it happen.

i have a simple guestbook for mx that saves the content to a text file...name, email, comments etc

you can download the file including the php file

there might be a couple of other examples you could download as well...im not sure as i stopped doing anything to the site some time ago...one day i may finish it
