SUBFORM NOT RESPONDING

I have a FE / BE database Acc97 with FE on each users terminal, BE on server.
On a number of occasions when the users open a form with a subform, the subform does not open at all, whereby no entries can be made. The quick fix has been to upload a copy of the FE database again ,to the user's machine that is having the problem.
This problem is not isolated to one computer, it has happened on 3 different computers.
Has anyone else experienced this problem and are the any permanent fix's to the problem.

Is it possible to have the front end on the server and each user will have a shortcut pointing to it? Thats what i do and havnt had any probs with the DBs (which use subforms).
