I have created a report with several sub reports in it because creating all fields on one page would be too long. The database used is only one. How do I link my subreports to the main report.
Should I have all the required tables show up on the main report and then just link each subreport? Using which fields Any suggestions will be helpful

They don't HAVE to be linked--it depends upon whether you need them to share the same parameters or whether you are trying to limit the subreport data to certain groups within the main report.

what exactlt does sharing the same parameter mean?

so I can have unlinked subreport?

but then how will the fields in the subreport fill in?

The subreports are like stand-alone reports, so they are not relying on the main report to be "filled in". Regarding parameters, I just meant that if you are using the same parameters in the subreports and the main report, then it makes sense to link on the parameters so you are only prompted once. Yes, you can have an unlinked subreport.

It sounds like you should spend some time just experimenting with how subreports work.

You may not need to use subreports, but I'm not sure what you mean when you say, "creating all fields on one page would be too long"
If you do choose to use subreports, you can either link them together to give results that are related to the link from the main report or you can have a subreport that is not linked to your main report. (linked = retrieve data from the subreport based on the information that is passed from the main report. It works like a parameter)
