I've loaded SU System update 018 on a BCM400 running 4.0 v 4.0.2.03. Now I can not load any other patches. I am running the correct Element Manager. I have also down loaded the latest cartridges from Nortel's website.

Has anyone else run into this issue?

I am running 50.10.0.0. Also, the patch said that if I go to "help" and "about" on my element mgr and it said "Nortel Business Element Manager" not to download a new EM from the BCM. Mine does.

Now Iam wondering. I am in the BCM via dial up and am trying to schedule a reboot but the BCM isn't allowing me to. When I go to the schedule and click on "add" nothing happens.

Curious

I also am unable to schedule a backup while connected via a modem.

Do you think this could be a EM issue or are you not able to set up a "scheduled" event via dialup?

Have you loaded the latest desktop patch?
I had the same problem. After I loaded the Desktop patch I had to delete my Element manager then install it again.

Also assuming this is a 400 make sure you load the latest core patch 261.core

50.10.0.0 was released not long ago however not sure what version is on th SU 18 patch.
All EM updates are now on the SU patch instead of Desktop patches because of this reason but...

Note from SU 18:
If the type and version displayed is "Nortel Business Element Manager" the Element Manager
currently installed on the client PC is later than the version in the update.

Please perform the following actions :

1) Apply this update.
2) DO NOT download the new Element Manager client installer from the Administrator Management Tools.
3) Allow Element Manager to download the new cartridge when first connecting again after the update applies.

If the type and version displayed is "Nortel BCM 4.0 Element Manager" or "Nortel BCM50 Element Manager"

Please perform the following actions:

1) Apply this update.
2) Download the new Element Manager client installer from the Administrator Management Tools and install
on the client PC as an "update" over the existing version.

My EM is ok according to the patch notes. I am unable to load any more patches. The tech that loaded these patches scheduled it to load after hours and had to manually reboot, but all he did was pull the power cord and plugged it back in. He did not do a software reboot. I think I will have him go on site and do a software reboot and see what happens. If that doesn't work, I will have him do a warm reset. Does that sound logical?

You have me a little confused as you say that you have the latest version of Element Manager. The latest version of Business Element Manager is v2.0.300-0. When you go into help & about after you launch it the Version should say Version 1.05.0.

I am going to have the tech onsite down load the em from the bcm and see what happens. If that doesn't work, I will have him do a reboot via software.

We figured out what was wrong. We had to reload the Element Manager from the BCM, even though the Patch Read Me File said we did not have to.

Go figure.

Well actualy we figured it out, that was what I and the others told you above in a sense.

Please perform the following actions:

1) Apply this update.
2) Download the new Element Manager client installer from the Administrator Management Tools and install
on the client PC as an "update" over the existing version.

I stand corrected. I find it interesting that the patch notes said that I had the correct version of Element Manager but yet, it did not work. But then, I shouldn't be suprised since a lot of Nortel's patches cause more problems than they correct
