Hey guys. I have a customer with a CICS, he owns a retail store and all the handsets are T7208s. However, they don't last very long as they don't seem suited to the abuse of a retail store. I have had to replace handsets here one too many times and he is begging for a better solution. Is there a more sturdy phone out there i can supply him with that will work fine with the CICS. All the phones do use features so it would need to be a handset that has atleast a few feature keys as they use them regularly. For example, the stock room is on the 3rd floor so people on the first quite often use the page key to page phones in the stock room when they have product requests. Let me know if you guys have any ideas. thanks in advance.

yeah, go backwards to the M series. Much more sturdy.

... They don't make'em like they used to ! :)

Yeh i figured that might be my only option. I guess i will have to see if my supplier still stocks them. Thanks again.

Pay somone to build a LEXAN box around the phone. Or better yet, penalize the staff for abusing company property. 2 or 3 deductions from EVERYONE's paycheck to cover the cost of the damaged phones and they will start policing themselves.

Technology won't solve HR issues.

1) Installing some dummy camera housings at each phone might be the solution. 2) Going to ATA's and analog phones would pay off in the long run (They would have to switch on their brains to learn how to page from an analog set). 3) Leave the phones broken and make them run up the stairs for a few weeks.

I had a bad day!

I would expect this question from a Foundry but not a Retail store lmao!

You say you have had to replace handsets and not sets....is this so? you will have that problem with any phone.

I have had to replace quite a bit of phones there. He (the customer) used to have M7208s and he swears they were much more sturdy than the new T7208s. It seems to be quite a hairy retail environment but none the less, it is a retail store. It actually has 3 floors, the third floor being used as a stock room while the lower 2 floors are sales floors. There actually are quite a few T7208s currently that are having speaker phone faults and they use the voice call feature quite a bit, it is a pretty hectic environment. They also have a "page stock" key on for paging a specific zone where the phones in the stock room are. So basically the analog phone option is out of the idea, he won't like that too much as they don't want to remember feature codes. Can anyone else confirm M7208s as being more sturdy/durable?

Can you do a link transfer from the ccr tree on a BCM Callpilot? The customer has local link enabled on the trunks but I can't find an option for feature 78(link).
