Hello,

I'm studying MCSA and getting ready for 70-291 and realize there's lots of memorizing subnetting formulas and such. Can someone please tell me whether I should really spend time on this, Does the 70-291 exam really have you sit there and calulate slash notations and determine the Host capacity of a /n network?

Thanks everyone! I just don't want to spend too much time on this if not necessary.

Im sitting 291 on Thursday, so thanks for your advice. Passed 290 a few weeks back so just plodding through them.

As far as Study material goes.. Nothing substitutes for actually doing it. If you havent got VMware yet for testing then get it (Server is free). Set up a load of servers and practice till you're happy..

The only things I am worried about for Thursday are RRAS (we dont use it at all at work) and IPSec (likewise). So Im swotting these like mad. Oh, and the usual ambiguous Microsoft questions of course. ;-)

Good luck all

For RRAS I would say be comfortable with setting up filters, static routes and policies. That should get you by. IPSec make sure and know the general differences and what to apply at each client/server level if you were to need to require secure communication. It shouldnt get to granular other then basics here, as this is something I presume comes with the 299. I took the 291 about 2 weeks ago.
