Hello all, after last nights' updates my computer restarted with "Failure configuring windows updates reverting changes" and is stuck there and has been for many hours. So I hard powered it off and restarted and this screen came right back up. I can boot in safe mode but cannot do much else. I have been unsuccessful finding help on the internet yet so I thought I would ask here in this forum.

I cannot get into Windows Update while in Safe Mode so I don't know what else I can try!

I don't see much in Event Viewer but I may be missing something there...

Any thoughts what I can try?

thank you!

False alarm. I let it just continue and it was actually doing something. All of a sudden I looked and it was at the logon prompt. There are a number of updates that failed but on the same screen is shows no updated needed at this time. I don't know what to make of it. Sorry again for the false alarm.

Have you tried to get the failed updates to install subsequently?

Sometimes updates rely on other updates downloaded at the same time to be installed and rebooted before those dependent updates successfully install.

Running third party program can also interfere, including malware.

If you are having a problem with Windows Updates you could try the Fixit Tool from this article?

Have a look at this too.

thanks Linny for the tips. I haven't noticed if those failed updates have actually been processed but I will give it a shot today.
